David Ghesser is the first recipient of The Brian Wilson Scholarship for composing, arranging and producing popular music at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. David has composed the music to the song, “Dear Mr. California,” with lyrics written by Claudia Hackl in honor of Brian.

“I composed the music to this song in honor of Brian. He's really the creator of the California Sound. His focus on melody has been very inspirational to me. When I write music, I want to create memorable melodies like Brian so that I can hopefully, one day, inspire songwriters to put more effort into writing music that appeals to the heart as Brian's music does.”
